These are the songs I listen to every now and then...
This April finds me listening to Matchbox 20, Craig David and Jewel.
But I'm not crazy, I'm just a little unwell
I know right now you can't tell
But stay awhile and maybe then you'll see
A different side of me
I'm not crazy, I'm just a little impaired
I know right now you don't care
But soon enough you're gonna think of me
And how I used to be
A few years back this would have made a perfect song for my state of mind. Right now it's just another testament to Matchbox 20's penchant for making songs about the frailty of the human condition.
Think about it: Bent, Disease, and now Unwell? Can you see a pattern emerging?
Gotta admit though, Unwell's one damn catchy song.
Sometimes in life you feel the fight is over
And it seems as though the writing's on the wall
Superstar, you finally made it
But once your picture becomes tainted
It's what they call
The rise and fall
I don't really like Craig David's music for the simple reason that it's not my kind of. On the other hand, I do like Sting, and that's why I gave this song a chance. Good thing too, since this collaboration between the two artists is unique. Craig's take on Sting's Shape of My Heart is refreshing, although something like it has been done before (Eminem took on Dido's Thank You in his song Stan).
Follow your heart
Your intuition
It will lead you in the right direction
Let go of your mind
Your intuition
Is easy to find
Just follow your heart, baby
I like Jewel. She's not loud, she's not angry, she's not pop. She is eye candy, but she doesn't flaunt it. And best of all, she can sing.
That said, I don't really like this song all that much. It's no Standing Still, but it's catchy enough for a quick listen every now and then.
